October is breast cancer awareness
month. Half the population are women,
and one of the things that makes us different is our boobs. There’s no getting
away from it, that’s the way we come.
Unfortunately, and especially over
the past few years, cancer has become more and more prevalent, and breast
cancer affects millions of women world-wide. Research shows that great medical
advances are being made in this field, but secondary cancers are also a big
problem.
I have had friends and relatives die
of breast cancer. Generally they have fought it for years with all kinds of
treatment, from living on vegetable juices to going down the chemotherapy
road. Either way, it’s a hard road, not
only for the sufferers, but also for the families, who have to see their loved
ones slowly fade away.
I think this is one of the diseases
you have to have to understand how you feel once you are diagnosed with cancer.
I have not been in those shoes, so do not presume to ‘understand’ fully.
Those diagnosed now seem to have a
much better chance of recovery or at least a longer life these days. Millions
and millions of dollars are going into research. Let’s hope it eases life for
many of the sufferers and their families.
I was tickled to see that many of
the landmark buildings in the world are being lit up in pink during this month.
What a great idea!
This picture is not very clear, but lots of people are going pink this month including a gold tournament.
Also the Empire State building is going pink.
There are altogether about 20 major buildings world wide going pink to raise awareness.
