There’s not a lot of gardening to do around the section of this house
sit. Well, there is, but it’s not flower gardening. There are heaps of trees
and lots of pots etc, but most of it is established trees and shrubs.
Between
the house and the double garage there is a nice breezeway, open at both ends
with a small table and chairs there. There is also a long brick planter with
some pot plants there, but they are looking a bit tired. We decided to put a bit of colour there. Good
old Bunnings has a wide selection of plants, and it’s just down the road, so a
little trip down there yesterday was very productive.
We arrived home with several bags of potting mix to repot everything,
some nice plants that Bunnings tell us will do well in the shady area, and some
orchid potting mix to repot a couple of their orchids, plus a couple of small
orchids I bought a while ago that need larger pots.
Here’s the finished product…it looks lovely from the kitchen windows.
We left some of the original plants there and those we moved have gone
into the outside garden into a couple of sheltered spots where they should do
fine.
While we are on the subject of gardening, we visited our newest granddaughter today. She is eating and sleeping and filling nappies like she should. Just outside their front door is a lovely gum tree. It has been in flower, and now the flowers have gone the baby gumnuts are forming. I thought they looked lovely.
Here are a couple of pictures of the gum tree flowers. Australia has billions of these gum trees, they are a real picture when they are in full bloom.

These were the flowers, now they have lost their spikey petals and becoming gumnuts. |

After a few months they will look like this. |
