Ah for a good clean cupboard!

I told you previously about having the house sprayed for spiders where we are house-sitting. It seems to have been successful, although a few days ago I found three spiders alive in one day. I was not so impressed.

I always had in the back of my mind that they were breeding in the linen cupboard in the hallway. We found some huge webs one time, sprayed them liberally and had a good look, and found nothing more, but even so, I still had this feeling about the linen cupboard.

So Peter, being the ‘man’ of the house decided to check it out.  This house has a large linen cupboard in the hall way, and the owners have quite a bit of stuff stored in there, spare armchair covers, padding for cushions, linen etc. We set aside the morning and tackled this cupboard. We completely emptied it. Not a living spider to be seen, although two dead ones were reclining on the carpet that lines the bottom of the cupboard. So we cleaned the whole thing out and Peter sprayed all around it for good measure. No decent spider will come out of there for a while. We put everything back, neat and tidy, and I think we have the neatest linen cupboard in Aussie at the moment.

Having tackled the linen cupboard, Peter decided to do the wardrobes too. So we completely emptied all the wardrobes in the bedrooms, cleaned them out, and Peter again sprayed them all. Aha, nice tidy wardrobes greet us now, and Peter guarantees me they are spider free too.

Have done that, he decided he would tidy up the garage. The house here has a good garage, a real blokes shed. It is a double garage, with a ping pong table in it, and lots of room. We have a few things stored in there, a spare fridge that we use as a beer fridge, the ride on mower lives there, and the whole thing is carpeted. When we have the grandchildren over they play out there, it’s a very versatile area.

So Peter got busy and tidied the whole area up. It looks pretty good. A real blokes shed is not designed to be tidy for long, it is by nature a place with a certain ‘lived in’ appearance, and if it is too tidy then it looks like the bloke never goes in there, and in our case Peter potters round out there quite happily for ages. So I don’t expect it to stay too tidy for too long, and that’s okay.
But there is nothing quite so satisfying as sitting down knowing your cupboards and wardrobes are as tidy as they can be.
