It’s
hot! We have had the warmest winter for
years, and the September temperatures have broken all records and it’s expected
to keep going for the next month or three.
I did hear on the radio that the Bureau of Meteorology has had to add
two more colors to the temperature scales because it is too hot for the colors
they already have.
Here are a
couple of headlines from the local newspaper.
Spring
weather sets records
With
September being listed as the hottest on record, October looks set to continue
with warm temperatures.
Queensland has hottest 12 months on record
Severe weather warning as wild winds
expected to hit
Also the
Sydney Morning Herald has this headline.
It’s going
to be a doozy. Many parts of the northern hemisphere had a very hot summer too, many of my friends in China were complaining constantly about the unending
heat. Might need to get the pool ready soon. Oh, well, actually Peter has been
doing that. In this house sit we have a lovely pool, which, unfortunately the
recent winds insist on dumping leaves and twigs into, but Peter was in there
yesterday cleaning all the little bits out. I was brave enough to put my feet
in, but that was my limit, the water is still too cold for me.
Today we are
forecast to have some showers and storms as a fast moving front toddles
overhead and out to sea. The preliminary hot northerlies are out there now,
spreading heat all around, but hopefully it will cool down tonight.
Anyway it
looks like our plans are coming together and new horizons await. We leave here
at the end of October and go to a suburb in Brisbane for a few weeks, then another
suburb in Brisbane for a few weeks, then we have a couple of weeks to fill in,
then three weeks or so in Perth, and tonight we got a lovely letter with an
offer of a house in the Adelaide hills. This one is not set in concrete yet, we
will have to wait til they get back to us. It might be cooler down there in mid-summer,
at least not so humid. Let’s hope so.
