Naughty nurses told to behave after selfies put on social media.

Naughty nurses told to behave after posting saucy selfies on social media.
Peter found this newspaper article from The Daily Telegraph, talking about nurses taking selfies ( taking photos of themselves at work with patients, and obviously not with the patients permission) and posting them on social media.

There was also an article I read recently about photos being taken routinely of patients, of their wounds, when they are in the operating theatre, and other photos taken as records for training purposes, these photos also being taken with or without the patient’s knowledge.  In this case the problem was what to do about these pictures as many had been taken without permission. And, to be fair, the persons face is probably not on file, but just the wound, operation etc, well you would hope no face was attached.

This matter of selfies seems to be a bit of a problem. I was talking to a friend recently who was really upset that when she was visiting a relative in the ICU unit of a hospital in Brisbane, that the nurses there were taking photos of one the patients, in a ward where many of them were in commas or near to death and the nurses were taking photos  posing with a near death patient, then putting the photos up on a screen to see which pose was best. Now in the nurses defense, maybe relatives had asked for photos to be taken for other family members that could not get to the hospital, maybe that's possible and we don't know the circumstances, but it does seem a bit odd.

The relative in the ICU was also used (unknowingly and without her permission) as a model, and her pictures were put up on a screen and laughed at.
My first reaction was surprise, then I was really angry about this, especially if permission had not been granted. This could have been my mother, father or other close relative that they were ‘posing’ by and maybe using for their own amusement.
As Victoria would have said….”We are not amused”.
